6 Resources Business Education Teachers Use to Help Students Learn

colored pencils, money and journals

High school business courses can provide students with valuable skills and knowledge that can benefit them in their future careers and personal lives. Business classes can teach students important life skills, such as budgeting and time management. Business courses can also introduce students to important concepts like credit awareness, consumerism, and investing. For that reason, business education teachers are essential contributors to the future success of students. They facilitate lessons on a variety of subjects, including accounting, finance, marketing, and entrepreneurship. Here are some resources that New Jersey business education teachers enrolled with Rutgers Alternate Route use to plan great lessons and enhance their teaching.

Cengage
Michael R. uses this resource in his business and accounting classes. It holds online versions of certain textbooks so students don't need a physical copy. In addition, it also has interactive problems/activities that students can work with. The software provides immediate feedback by displaying the correct answers after a student completes a task.

Money Instructor
Ellen T. uses this site to provide activities, worksheets, and lessons related to money skills, personal finance, and career planning. The benefit of this resource is that it provides printable worksheets, activities, and lesson ideas helpful in teaching personal finance to students.

Morning Brew
Cole L. finds Morning Brew to be a great resource for current resources and articles for education, finance, and technology. The site is user-friendly and can be used as a great resource for both teachers and students.

Next Generation Personal Finance
Ellen T. recommends this site as a great resource for teaching financial literacy. It provides resources such as lesson plans, videos, and games to teach financial literacy across all grade levels. It makes it easier to search for resources to teach your lesson or to complement your lesson with differentiated resources.

Start Here Go places
Michael R. suggests this accounting-specific website as it has many fun and engaging activities and assignments for students. It helps to make accounting more interesting, as it can sometimes be a dry course.

Today's Dough
Cole L. recommends Today's Dough as a resource for marketing, finance, and sales. It provides current resources that are reliable and help with idea generation for lesson planning. It is also a great source to use for emergency sub plans and fillers. Students can research articles from this site and answer discovery questions.
