Cost: $25
The purpose of this course is to help 24-Hour course completers and transfer candidates from other providers obtain an initial VOPC required for teacher certification in New Jersey. This course is conducted as a laboratory course under the supervision of the CE-provider program. Candidates must deliver a planned lesson using required template; submit a lesson reflection form provided by our program; and complete an interactive field experience log. Requests for certificate upgrades are reviewed on an ongoing-basis, and candidates may enroll at anytime.
CTE Endorsement seekers ARE NOT ELIGIBLE for this course. Please consult the NJDOE's endorsement codes (link is external) to help you determine your eligibility for our program.
Candidates must pay a nominal $25 upgrade fee which defrays the cost of reviewing submissions and issuing the initial Verification of Program Completion form.
Please Note: Candidates who register for this course are expected to continue with the Rutgers-CE program for the remainder of the 400-hour course of study. This is not a stand-alone course. *Completing the program application establishes program eligibility and results in conditional acceptance; however, successful completion of the 24-Hour Bridge Course serves as the official admissions entry point. A candidate may earn the following performance ratings based on their assignment quality 4-Excellent 3-Satisfactory 2-Developing 1-Unsatisfactory. Candidates earning 3’s and 4’s automatically advance to Phases 1, 2, and 3 while those earning a 2 or less require employer advocacy in the form of a job offer and/or recommendation for formal admission
NOTE: As of July 1, 2017, the New Jersey Department of Education requires a minimum 3.0 GPA for Certificate of Eligibility (CE) applicants. Candidates who do not meet the 3.0 minimum GPA should not enroll in this course, as they will be ineligible for a CE. However, if you currently hold a CE and need this course as part of your 50-Hour Pre-professional requirement, you may enroll as the 3.0 minimum GPA does NOT apply to you.
