Diverse Teachers for Diverse Schools

Diverse Teachers for Diverse Schools was a 19-month project supported by the New Jersey Department of Education to develop innovative strategies for recruiting and retaining a diverse teaching force. This included establishing a teaching mentoring and induction program in collaboration with a consortia of Passaic County schools. Although the project has ended, our work in diversifying the teaching force continues. Individuals from all backgrounds are invited to learn more about our alternate route program.

To learn more about the project, you can view the program brochure for the 2019-2020 school year here. As a reminder, the project is no longer active but the brochure reflects the program features. In addition, you may access the Grant-Funded Resources at https://go.rutgers.edu/DiverseTeachers

To request a copy of the mentoring handbook and learn more about the program for your school, email the Project Manager, Sharlene Laud, at sharlene.laud@gse.rutgers.edu.
