Using Literacy Skills to Develop Science Experts [Podcast Episode 3]

In this episode of the Rutgers Alternate Route's podcast series, Shana Pyatt explores the importance of advancing literacy skills in all subject areas. Ms Shana Pyatt is the Science Department Chair and former High School Principal for North Star Academy, one of New Jersey's highest performing schools. She was honored in 2000 by the Governor's Teacher Recognition Program as one of Essex County's teachers of the year. She earned a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Rutgers University ('92), a Master's degree in Multicultural Education from Iona College ('96), and a second Master's in General Science Education from Southern Connecticut State University ('98). Shana is an adjuct professor at Relay Graduate School of Education.

Rutgers Alternate Route Teacher Program's podcast series, "Give or Take Ten Minutes: Tips for Teachers,"focuses on issues related to improving student learning and teacher practice.
