Dr. Cindy Blitz, Executive Director at the Center for Effective School Practices, Rutgers University will be presenting at the 2017 National Forum to Advance Rural Education Friday, October 13th in Columbus, Ohio hosted by Battelle for Kids and the National Rural Education Association. This year’s event theme is Growing Success, which will focus on connecting education and work, strengthening the profession, and supporting the whole child.

The presentation is entitled “Building Effective Internal and External Collaborations to Advance Rural Education”. Collaborative structures, such as professional learning communities (PLCs) and research-practitioner partnerships (RPPs) can be effective mechanisms for teacher professional development and school improvement, but are challenging to implement and evaluate in rural districts and schools. Learn about emerging best practices for forming and sustaining effective internal and external collaborations in rural education and pick up a number of useful tools for evaluating their efficacy and impact.
