When COVID-19 hit, Discovery Charter School Leader and Alternate Route alum Denis Cretinon knew he wouldn’t succeed without a team. Cretinon, who recently finished his first year as School Leader, worked with fellow Discovery educators on March 13th to put a plan together that best serves students and teachers. On March 16th, school was back in session… but had a new look.

Antoine’s two summers as an Alternate Route intern informed many decisions she made leading up to her career, whether it was preferred working style and environment or building on top of interpersonal communication skills. 

July is Social Wellness Month, which focuses on how to better nurture yourself and your relationships. For teachers and students, navigating and nurturing relationships is all part of the educational experience. From teachers coaching their students to kids being there for a friend during tough times, schools are filled with individuals giving and receiving emotional support on a daily basis.  

Within the past 10 years, education careers in the STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) have increased. However, many STEM jobs remain unfilled and according to education non-profit ACT, students in the United States are not well-enough equipped in STEM education. A challenge for the education sector right now is how to best support STEM teachers and in-classroom learning – a key component to a robust and well-rounded learning experience.
